Happy Thanksgiving

The night after the last post, we checked my temperature and it was at 101. Apparently I was feeling slightly better but that was because I had been feeling so horrible before. Each day I've been getting progressively better but the temp is still hovering around 100 degrees. So, effective immediately, we just decided that this Thanksgiving will be Danny and my first holiday together alone. We've decided not to bring my infectious body around our loved ones. So, happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends and family, from afar :). I am grateful for my life, Dan, family, friends, health (although slightly compromised at this point in time), and the love that I receive every day. Thank you for all of the support that I am fortunate enough to receive non-stop. Thank you for the emails lately, I've had a constant stream of "kick toom-ah butt" energy sent my way and I appreciate it so much. Danny and I are incredibly grateful for all of the team members joining us on this fight. We wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving, full of warm hugs, and deep belly laughter.

  1. Hello Jess
I have never met you personally, but I have been following your blog since the beginning and want to thank you for sharing your journey so openly. You are one astounding human being and you give us all more courage to live better lives.

I don't know the answers to the many big questions that you have, but there are some things that I do want you to know and Thanksgiving seems a good time to acknowledge my gratitude to you.

There is so much I admire about you; the way you stay at the helm of your life and steer consciously in the direction that's best for you, the way you listen to your own internal compass, your gut, your intuition for answers. I appreciate the level of vulnerability and truthfulness you share with all of us from the depths of your soul. You have such an enormous and pure heart, an extraordinary brain, and resilient spirit. You are intelligent, articulate, authentic, kind, humble, and full of charm, grace and wisdom. You are selfless, compassionate, generous and so aware of the needs of others. You are a teacher, a hero, and a kindred spirit to so many. You are a love magnet.

You may think it is us (your fans, friends and family) holding your hand Jess, but in so many ways it is you holding our hands. None of us know what is coming around the next corner in life - unfathomable challenges, immense blessings. You teach us to be brave with all of life's trials, losses, and fears in the many forms and faces they present. You model for us incredible discipline and determination. You remind us to focus on what matters in life and that we always have choices. You help us see deeper into ourselves and into life and you accelerate our learning, raise our awareness and understanding. Because of your shining example, your incredible strength, the openness with which you have shared your burdens and joys, you have blazed a trail for so many others. You have taught us we can stand up to anything.

You lead us with your honesty, your resilient spirit, the way you embrace and cherish life with your joy of living and constant alignment with gratitude and good humor. It allows the rest of us to grow along side of you, discovering new ideas, perspectives, potentials, strengths, learning to transcend and transform with life's continuous and inevitable changes.

I saw a quote the other day that reminded me of you..."Anyone can give up. It's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength."

I think there are hundreds of us who are here for you Jess, in force, in heart, in our own ways, whispering thousands of prayers, sending you good thoughts and high intentions; of comfort, strength, healing, faith, gratitude, to ease your burdens, surround you with Light and love and protection, enveloping you in God's arms.

So, as we all try to navigate our trials in life we remember how you have taught us to carefully assess where we are at, break down our obstacles, make a strategy, to question authority, medical or otherwise, make our own decisions and to always face forward. You teach us how to rally, how to adapt. You show us it is always possible to find the high road. You are a tower of strength, a lighthouse of inspiration, you are the leader of Team Jess. You are beauty through and through. You really make a difference.

We are all interconnected threads in the fabric of humanity - but your thread is spun of gold and light. The Light of your Being just blankets us, blesses us, guides us onward. You connect us with a hope that carries and lifts us higher. Jess, you give so much more than you ever take and there is no way we can ever repay you for that.

I am glad there is an account now where we can contribute to the blessjess fund - it is the least we can do to compensate a life coach of your caliber! Happy Thanksgiving to you and Danny. Love, C.

  4. Dear Jess, Larry W. told me about your blog and the ordeal you have been going through for the last three years. I remember walking around Pear Point Rd. with you, listening to stories of your life and your new love, Danny. How can our life circumstances flip upside down so quickly? I am still reading back posts to catch up, but am so impressed with your sense of humor, fighting spirit, ability to still be thinking of others while in the midst of a struggle for your life, and ESPECIALLY your ability to decide for yourself what you will or won't do with your body. What an amazing young woman you are, Jess. I will be sending healing wishes your way. love, Jane K.
