Introduction to My YouTube Vlog

I'm getting lazy in my old age, and resorting to video blogs to keep in touch.

Okay, I was just cracking a joke, but truth is, I'm having a harder and harder time expressing myself with written words. I can't even think straight these days. I'm truly bone tired, and that's why I barely write anymore.

Please note: My YouTube channel will have all the videos, but the BLOG will have all the various posts: video, written, guest, etc.

    3. Ha! Nice Stephen! And it is so weird to hear "south of the border" and not think of Mexico (and with it, chips, salsa, and all the other amazing food). Great talking to day - although short by our standards. Travel safe tomorrow!

  2. OH Jess, I just love the Vlog because it gives us a chance to see you and hear your sweet voice! I've loved following all 6 years of the Blog although I haven't been commenting as much since I had my slight stroke last year! I was able to see you on the TV Show and I just LOVED IT!!! Cried through the whole thing! Just loved your Wedding Surprise for Dan, seeing all of your family and friends, and just seeing Friday Harbor ~ my favorite place when I was a little girl and my Grandpa lived there! I Love You and have done so since the Blog began! Keep strong Young Lady and I'll try to do the same!!! Much Love, "So Cal" Patti

And for the record, both Dan and I cried through the whole thing too. I love the idea of you and your grandpa on the island. I bet that was a sight! Sending you lots of love!! xoxox

    1. Oh wow! Horrible about the diagnosis, but you're at a wonderful center! Great facility, brilliant doctors, wonderful clinical trials. But, of course, you already know that. ;-)

I'm so glad that you found me, and that you are inspired - it's a huge compliment! If there's ever anything I can do, please let me know! Have you seen the website http://btcocktails.blogspot.com ? You might not need it now, and hopefully never will, but it's an amazing resource.

Take care, I'll be thinking of you guys!

  5. Sorry to pester you jessica. I asked on your last post but i dont think you had time to reply. You mentioned taking sugar and some medicine when you feel a seizure coming on. Is that keppra?

    1. Dominique, I'm sorry for the delay - and truthfully, I often need "pestering" so that I don't forget stuff. The medicine that I was talking about is lorazepam. It slows down the central nervous system, which includes the electrical currents in my brain. I chew it up and shove it under my tongue. It takes effect within minutes. I've heard of other patients that use valium suppositories with immediate success. I just don't think it would work for me since I can even unbutton my pants during an aura/seizure. Hope that helps!

    2. Thank you for replying. But isnt that for a grand mal?

    3. Dominique, are you referring the lorazepam or the valium suppositories? Or both?

      Delete
    4. To both. Or either. When do you take lorazepam? Even during a focal seizure?

    5. Yes, I get an aura for my seizures (which are 90% focal) - I mainly have Jacksonian seizures, and I take a lorazepam when I feel them coming on. I don't know if the valium suppositories are mainly for grand mal, or all seizures, as I haven't taken one myself. The lorazepam definitely helps slow and stop my seizures. I was on Keppra for a period of time, but it made me excessively angry, and depressed, very quickly suicidal. I couldn't live that way, so I tried two others and they did the same thing. I'm not on anti-epileptics currently, however I don't drive either. And since I have auras I feel okay taking that risk. It could change at any time and I may try the drugs again, or others. Are you taking anti-epileptics? If so, is it working for you?

  6. I actually wrote on behalf of my mum. She is on both keppra and vimpat. Thanks jessica. I hope UCLA recommends surgery. My mum's anaplastic astrocytoma is inoperable.
