A Message From Dan

Hello everyone, this is Dan.

Earlier this afternoon Jess had a seizure. It was different then her normal seizures as it came on with no aura or preceding affects. She attempted to call me but was unable to use the phone until things had passed and luckily I was not too far away and got home quick to find her laying, unable to move, in the yard. She has been going non stop for the last few weeks and I feel this has put a strain on her. She always wants to answer every text, email, comment, and no human could possibly withstand that pressure. She is slowly getting better as we speak from napping, but needs to rest as much as possible. So, with that said, I am instituting a technological blackout. Most of you will remember me doing this in the past, but in case there is someone newer or does not remember, Jess will be refraining from blogging, texting, calling, emailing until she is feeling better. Or until she sneaks behind my back to do it anyway:). Jess wanted to make sure I wrote something so everyone would understand why she is not returning your messages. We have a good friend in town tomorrow, all the way from Texas, to cheer on the Seahawks vs Cowboys preseason game, and knowing her, I can't stop her from attending if I tried - however, it's imperative that she get as much rest between now and then. She's heartbroken that her running steak of no seizures has to start over, and scared that this seizure came with no aura, no forewarning. She thanks you for your patience, and is embarrassed to have to explain this situation. Thank you for your cooperation, and if you want to send her well wishes, feel free to do so on the blog. Also, even though you want to reach out in this moment with an email, text, or call, please hold off. The growing list of emails/texts/etc. will just stress her more. A comment on the blog is fine, but but other forms of contact put more of a strain of responsibility at this time. Thank you for understanding. I just want to protect her, Dan

After I carried her back into the house.

  7. Along sleep and a good laugh after is the best remedy. At least that's what my Irish mother used to say to.

    See you soon.

    1. Your Irish mom's wisdom is spot on! I might need to write it down as a reminder. The laugher part is my fav, but I really do need to work on the sleep. :) Gotta have goals. Ha

  9. The two of you need to do what's best for your family. We will still be here rooting from the outfield with good thoughts and prayers for as long as you allow us to. So sorry about the seizure and rest is definitely in order. Tell Jess that we will be fine. Snuggle up to her and rest yourself Dan. You are just as important too. Hugs to you both.

    1. Thanks for the love Smiley! I've been working on resting up (it's a lifelong effort, and difficult to do - but working on it). And you're right, Dan needs to rest too. I am a lot of work! Haha! Poor guy has his work cut out for him. :)

  17. Dan, I'm so sorry I didn't see this earlier! I texted jess today about my scan. I feel terrible and hope she doesn't sneak a text back.

You're such a wonderful, loving soul and you make me appreciate Guy even more as I know we can be stubborn just trying to maintain our sense of normalcy.

Sending positive thoughts your way and hoping jess is back to her sassy and radiant self soon. Here's to ask of our spouses, families, partners and caregivers that we can't do without!

Much love from stacy and guy

    1. No worries! I know you get your results today, I hope they're good!! I've been thinking of you daily, anticipating the appointment. That struggle to maintain a shred of normalcy with this kind of diagnosis is nearly impossible, but it's worth it for the moments of clarity and gratitude. I mean, obviously, you and I laugh a lot every time we hang out, even through the crap and weight of the situation. I love that! Love you both. xoxo

  18. Thanks Dan for protecting Jess and getting the word out. I've been on such a Jess high after getting to see you both and the release of the show, so I can only imagine the volume of communications Jess gets from the rest of her fans. ❤️ I'm so glad you were there for this scary seizure. Big hugs to you both. Lorraine

    1. Rainy, I was on a high too. What a fun weekend! It was such a treat to get to spend that much time with you! I adore you and am so grateful for our friendship. I still find time to laugh about that little red truck hauling ass down our dirt road as you dusted that jogger on the way to HS graduation - but there was no time to slow down! :) haha! The fun we always have. It's the best.
