Yesterday and today, starting in the early afternoon, I have been getting progressive headaches. By the end of the night it hurts so bad that my eyes start watering - just tears streaming down my face. It's on the left hand side, the tumor side, and it throbs in the back, the tumor spot. It hurts so bad. And by the end of the night, like right now, it's on fire. I have no idea why it would progress like this. I'm scared. Has anyone else had anything like it? Especially tumor folks? I wouldn't be so afraid if not for the location. When I push down on the "soft spot" in the back of my skull where the incision starts, it lessons the pain a little. But that spot has always hurt to the touch so I don't know if adding the pain of a new location is just distracting me.
Please let this not be a recurrence.
Please let this be a fluke.
Please make it stop.
Nothing helps. Not water. Not asprin. Not anti-inflammatories. None of my supplements. Not rest. I'm lost.
So sorry Jessica. I hope you are feeling better today and your headache is gone. It must very scary for you. I cannot imagine !!! We are praying for you dear one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the prayers! They've worked. And it is a relief.
Deleteit could be so many things that don't need worrying about! if it continues ask your doctor though, if just for some piece of mind and pain relief. i get really bad headaches sometimes if i as much as change my supplement protocol.
ReplyDeleteBen, thank you for sharing. Those headaches are unnerving to say the least. I'm sorry you have such a sensitive brain too, but I guess it's a complicated environment and once they dig around, what can we expect. It's a huge electrical info-structure, among other things. Your comment really gave me peace. Sometimes it's just really nice to know that I'm not crazy, or alone.
DeleteI get PMS headaches, thats about it but they can last a week. Call me, I want to talk to you about a new treatment my Cedars dr. mentioned.
ReplyDeleteOh Kaite, now you have me intrigued! I'm so bad at calling people, but I'll do my best this week. If I'm taking too long, give me a call, I definitely want to hear about it. PS I think you called it, my first hormonal headaches ever. What a horrible addition to a less than fun time.
DeleteHi Jess, This is Tori from Friday Harbor. I had brain surgery to remove a benign meningioma just 10 days before your first surgery at UW. I know you know that, just re-introducing myself! So I get pretty severe head aches at my incision/tumor point still. I don't feel fire, though... I have one of those ice bags, you know the old fashioned ones with the big cap that screws on? A dark room, some Excedrin and a big ol' bag of ice on my head... When is your next MRI? You are always in my prayers!! Best, Tori
ReplyDeleteTori, I don't know those old fashioned ice caps, but now I'm very intrigued. I think I'll google that. And thank you for sharing. It's very helpful to hear that you have a painful areas around the resection too. Those surgeries are brutal and it seems very hard to fuse the two skull pieces together. It is calming to know that I'm not the only one with these experiences. Otherwise it gets pretty scary. Brain surgery friends are such an amazing resource. I appreciate you!
DeleteWishing you the best of luck. Telling you that there could be a million causes might not seem of much help, but remember, it could be anything, so please don't panic. I hope this stops quickly... Might Boswellia Serrata do anything (I have no idea, but maybe someone who knows more about this has an opinion on it?)? Best, Tess
ReplyDeleteTess you're right, boswellia pretty much always helps everything. That is a great call! And you're also right that it could be anything. And it helps that many brain tumor friends have posted how headaches effect them from hormones to supplement changes. Our brains are so complex, and I have to remember that. It's hard to, though.
